PCBP 6: Avenged Sevenfold Songs

Posted: November 18, 2010 in Uncategorized

Buried Alive by Avenged Sevenfold is from their newest album, Nightmare. This is by far one of my favorite songs of the album and it definitely shows the potential of Avenged Sevenfold. While some of the songs in the album aren’t as good, this song brings out the best of A7X. The best lyrics of the song are, “Death calls my name, and it seems I’ve been buried alive.” These lyrics explain the tragedy of losing their drummer, Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan, to an overdose of pain pills. Overall, this song explains how unexpected The Rev’s death was.

Gunslinger by Avenged Sevenfold is from their self-titled album and is one of the more songs with meaning. This album overall is my second favorite album, with almost every song good. Back in 2008, I went and saw Avenged Sevenfold in concert in Atlanta, Georgia, and this was one of their best songs played of the night. The best lyrics of the song are, “‘Cause with all these things we do, it don’t matter when I’m coming home to you.” Without songs like this back when they were released, Avenged Sevenfold wouldn’t be the band it is today.
